The B&B is situated in Giarre, a town located in one of the most picturesque areas of the world: the Taormina-Etna district at the base of Mount Etna Volcano, between Taormina (it takes just about 12 minutes to reach it by train, and the ticket costs only 2€) and Catania (it is 2 train stops away, it takes 22 minutes to reach it, and the ticket costs only 2,65€), and 2,5 km from the sea. Not far from here you can visit all the external locations where Francis Ford Coppola’s most famous movies, “The Godfather – Part I, II and III”, were shot: Italian Mafia boss Don Vito Corleone (portrayed by a magnificent Marlon Brando), his son Michael Corleone (interpreted by an equally superb Al Pacino) and all their mafia family members and mobsters, are seen running their gangster business around this area during the entire Godfather saga. These sites were chosen both for the indisputable beauty of the landscapes, so close to Mount Etna and to truly remarkable Sicilian villas, and also because at that time they were the theater of a real bloody Mafia war between Palermo and Corleone, and this gave The Godfather movies a more realistic touch. If you are interested, we organize cultural/naturalistic tours to wildlife reserves, castles, villas and all the external locations of the movies, including the castle of the wedding (where we also organize Godfather-style weddings) and the Café Vitelli, where you can taste the famous lemon “granita” (typical crushed ice drink).
Giarre is also very well-connected with the highway, national and local trains, the Circumetnea touristic train, and many public and private buses. The Taormina-Etna Region is spectacular and we highly recommend a stay of more than 3 days to see it all. Additionally, more time can be spent visiting Catania, Syracuse & Noto or Messina: all of them are within easy reach by train or by bus.
Our house is in the city center but in a quiet, peaceful and wide street, where parking is easy to find. It's easy to reach us by sea (Riposto Marina www.portodelletna.com ), by train (Giarre railway station www.trenitalia.com is far just 1 mile on the street Piazza Mazzini and we offer free transfer on your arrival and departure ), bus, plane (Fontanarossa Airport, Catania 30 minutes away by car) or car (the A18-E45 motorway Giarre or SS 114). Giarre is a beautiful town known for its handicrafts (wrought-iron, ceramics, Sicilian puppets, etc.), shopping center, wine and olive oil production, lemon and orange trees, almonds and delicious sweets and biscuits dating back to Arabic traditions of the Middle Ages. As for the landscape the majestic Mount Etna is visible to the west (particularly beautiful when covered by snow, which is normally until June) and the clear blue sea to the east. Its worth mentioning that a few metres underneath the town of Giarre there are the remains of a very ancient legendary Greek colony Kallipolis (beautiful city), described in various historical documents.
We are located in a central, quiet and safe part of Giarre, well-served by buses and just 1 Km away from the main railway station, thus public transport is a very easy option to get around. There is a fully-licensed supermarket just in front of our house and you can easily reach by foot the main square, typical restaurants, cafés & pubs, shops, bank, post office, aquarium, museum, etc. Check the map for more info.

To reach us by car
If you come by car from highway A18 exit in GIARRE. Go down to city center on the main street SS114 - Viale Luigi Sturzo until number 39 and turn on the street of the AUDI car seller (Via Angelo Vasta), after first right (Viale Aldo Moro) and first left (Via Olimpia / Supermarket EUROSPIN). On n.29 there is our BB, just in front the long side of the stadium. Our house is a 2 level house with green balcony and wooden grid for flowers, next a 5 level building. There isnt any street indication about our B&B, so please print this indication, our mobile phone numbers and the map.
